Taipei is a perfect city for a week-long escape. You can ride up Taipei 101 and enjoy the views from the top, get lost in the Shilin night market, where street food and shopping blend together, or spend an afternoon in Jiufen, the mountain town with narrow alleys full of teahouses and food stalls.
If you fancy some nature, Yangmingshan National Park is within an easy distance of the city and is ideal for walking among fumaroles and volcanic landscapes. And if you're looking for something more relaxed, the Ximending district offers cafés, shops and plenty of youthful buzz.
