Once you're there, Naples has plenty to offer. Try pizza at one of its traditional pizzerias, wander through the historic centre and get lost along Spaccanapoli. In December, Via San Gregorio Armeno also fills with stalls selling handmade nativity figures, which makes it a perfect spot for soaking up the festive atmosphere.
If you feel like leaving the city, Pompeii and Herculaneum are close by and well worth a visit. And if you have an extra day, the Sorrento and Amalfi coasts can be reached on a day trip.
