What to do when you arrive
Porto charms with the Douro River, the medieval Ribeira district on its banks, the Clérigos Tower and azulejo tiles covering its facades. Don't miss Livraria Lelo, one of Europe's most beautiful bookshops, or the port wine lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia facing the city. Try francesinha (meat sandwich in beer sauce) and pastéis de Nata pastries.
