What to do when you arrive
Palermo is your gateway to Sicily. Explore the historic centre, try street food at Vucciria market, visit Palermo Cathedral and stroll around the harbour. From the capital you have easy access to nearby beaches, coastal towns like Mondello and the Tyrrhenian coast. The airport is 35 km from the city centre; buses and taxis get you to town quickly.
