Best time to visit Vietnam
Vietnam is best visited between October and April, when the weather is dry and temperatures moderate. Hanoi in winter (December-February) is ideal: 15-20°C with no rain. If you prefer the south, the dry season runs November to April. Avoid May to September due to monsoons. December is an excellent choice based on your example date: you'll miss peak Christmas tourism and the weather is perfect.
What to do in Hanoi and nearby
Hanoi is your gateway to Vietnam. Explore the Old Quarter, the Temple of Literature, and Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum. Take a trip to nearby Halong Bay (UNESCO World Heritage), one of the world's most spectacular landscapes. Enjoy street food in bustling night markets. If time allows, travel south to Ho Chi Minh City by train or domestic flight. Vietnam is affordable: your money goes far on accommodation, food, and activities.
