Airline and stopovers
You'll fly with Aer Lingus. The outbound flight includes 2 stopovers, so expect a longer journey but significantly cheaper than a direct flight. Stopovers are standard on this route from Europe to Puerto Rico, few airlines fly direct.
Best time to visit
Puerto Rico is year-round, but avoid hurricane season (June to November). Lowest prices typically fall during low season (May, September–October), though it's warm year-round. Northern winter (January–March) is peak tourism and pricier.
What to do in San Juan
Old San Juan is essential: cobblestone streets, coloured facades, El Morro fort. Nearby beaches include Carolina and Isla Verde. El Yunque tropical forest is under an hour away. With more time, head southwest to Rincón or Culebra for diving and secluded beaches.
FAQ
Is €811 the total price or are there extras?
That's the base price per person (return). Aer Lingus may charge for baggage, seat selection, or hand luggage depending on your fare type. Always add those costs during checkout before confirming.
Does Aer Lingus depart Vienna directly?
Aer Lingus flies from Vienna, but your San Juan flight includes 2 stopovers. It's not direct, so expect 18–24 hours total travel time.
Which airport should I use in San Juan?
You'll arrive at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), Puerto Rico's main hub. It's 10 km from Old San Juan; taxi, bus, or car rental are quick options.
Are there direct Vienna–San Juan flights?
Not regularly. Connections with 2 stopovers like Aer Lingus are standard from Europe. They save you money versus routes with fewer transfers.
